Mirror Maze Lab Report Rubric

After Frostad and Thayer, 2004.

Question Question includes both manipulated and responding variables. Question is not "yes or no' and is directly related to the topic of the inquiry. Teacher provided question is OK.          
Hypothesis (Prediction) Answers the question, uses "If manipulated variable, then responding variable..." format, and indicates the direction of the effect ie. will increase.          
The hypothesis includes a cause-effect reason. (i.e. because...).          
Materials A list of the minimum materials needed to perform the procedure must be listed in this section.          
Procedure Only one manipulated variable (independent) is identified or implied in the procedure or data table (if given). M.V = number of trials.          
The responding variable (dependent) is identified or implied in the procedure or data table (if given). R.V. = time to run maze.          
At least two controlled variables (kept the same) must be identified or implied in the procedure or the materials list. n/a
The procedure states or implies measurements are recorded periodically or gives a data table. If artificial data for the responding variable is given, no value point may be awarded. The phrase "take measurement" cannot be used to mean record.          
Repeated trials are planned, or implied in a data table, to measure the responding (dependent) variable.          
An experimental control condition should be identified in the procedure when appropriate. n/a
Extra Validity measures that were not included in the scenario investigation should be included in the procedure. Steps to ensure that the investigator is measuring what they purport to measure. n/a

Data A table for the manipulated and responding variables throughout the time of the investigation. Graph of data is included.          
Conclusion A minimal conclusive statement is given. Hypothesis is restated.          
The conclusive statement clearly answers the investigative question or explains whether the hypothesis or prediction was correct.

Data is given and an explanation of how the given data supports the conclusion is stated or implied.
