Mystery Powder Investigation

While cleaning up the chemistry lab, you discover that someone left out a beaker of an unknown white powder. Further investigation narrows the possible sources of the white powder to one of four chemicals used in the lab.

Each of these chemicals requires a slightly different disposal technique, so you will have to determine the identity of the unknown chemical.

After consulting with your colleagues, you determine that there are three reagents in your lab that will allow identification of the powder. The reagents are safe to use with any of the white powders in the lab.

All this means you need to design an experiment to identify the unknown powder. The results of your experiment will be communicated to the chemistry department chairperson using the department's standard lab report.
